La Pobla de Segur sets up the first ‘Vianda’ restaurant, with the km0 hamburger as the protagonist

La Pobla de Segur (Pallars Jussà) will host this Saturday the first of the ‘Vianda’ gastronomic festival, which will be held in the Serrería area. The purpose of the competition, which should take place in 2020 and has to be postponed due to the epidemic, is to promote local and regional products. So, the program has many theater performances and cooking as its main dish, as well as breakfast and music and children’s performances. One of the ‘showcookings’ will be the chef of the TV3 program ‘Cocinas’ and host of the program ‘Juego de Cartas’, Marc Ribas. Meanwhile, in the so-called ‘Espacio Brasa’, the public will be able to buy their hamburgers prepared by local producers and cook them themselves on the grill .

During the day there will be about twelve stops with producers from Pallars Jussà, Pallars Sobirà, Alt Urgell and Alta Ribagorça, and five local producers will come from Espacio Brasa. The mayor of Pobla de Segur, Marc Baró, explains that, in this first edition, “km0 hamburger” is the protagonist. In this decision, he added that the festival “is an opportunity to appreciate the companies that are related to meat products, and see what they are doing, in addition to giving results added to the area.”

For his part, the Councilor for Economic Promotion of the City Hall of Pallaresa, Josep Maria Tirbió, explained that they chose the name ‘Vianda’ for the festival because it is a word from France and means meat . “Al Pallars, however, vianda is associated with a type of dish that is made here with chicken, pork, sausage, bacon, noodles, cabbage, potatoes, beans and pears,” he said. Along these lines, he added that “this is a celebration that shows the diversity of the area and allows us to put on the map the potential that we have in food farming.”

The organization hopes that, for the next publication, the celebration will continue with the date and content. According to Tirbió, “This year we fell short because of the speed with which we had to increase it, but here we must include more experts. to the expert, that is, from team on the plate, with everything that it involves”, confirmed the consultant.
